Fire Watch Position

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Fire Watch personnel, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding workplaces from fire hazards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Demonstrating proficiency in operating fire extinguishers.
  • Vigilantly monitoring the workplace for potential fire hazards.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety permit conditions and preventing ignition of flammable materials.
  • Conducting regular patrols to identify and report fire, life safety, or property hazards.
  • Facilitating evacuations and familiarizing yourself with evacuation routes.
  • Maintaining a detailed log of fire watch activities and promptly reporting any incidents.
  • Conducting pre-shift inspections to detect flammable vapor or liquid releases.
  • Familiarizing yourself and other employees with the location of firefighting equipment.

Environment:

Fire Watch duties involve both indoor and outdoor settings, with temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold and heat. The primary activities include walking, standing, speaking, listening, and observing.

Available Shifts:

Shift schedules will vary based on client requirements.

Requirements:

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 18 years old or meet the minimum age requirement set by the State.
  • Hold a valid driver's license as required by the State.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work legally in the United States.
  • Have access to reliable transportation.
  • Maintain appropriate attire, conduct, and professionalism.
  • Pass a drug test with negative results and abstain from illegal drug use.
  • Consent to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, and employment verification.
  • Report arrival and relief times to the supervisor.
  • Possess a smartphone and be capable of calling 9-1-1 in case of fire.
  • Maintain the fire log on-site and submit daily logs to the supervisor.
  • Commit to remaining on-site until relieved.
  • Demonstrate physical capabilities to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Exhibit effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Display quick thinking and critical decision-making abilities.
  • Prioritize customer and public service.
  • Exercise sound judgment in potentially hazardous situations.
  • Possess knowledge of public safety, security laws, and regulations.
  • Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
